14 TIPS TO PREVENT TATTOO REMOVAL SCARRING:

  Follow these tips to reduce scarring before your laser tattoo removal procedure.  

Pre-Care Tips

 

1. DRINK LOTS OF WATER.

Having a lot of water before and after your removal will help increase the speed of recovery.

2. TAKE YOUR VITAMINS.

Vitamin E and Aloe help with healing, and can provide additional benefits to your removal journey.

3. AVOID LIDOCAINE.

Injected shots (with a needle) may increase the likelihood of scarring. Instead, use ice packs or Zimmer Cryo air cooling to help.

4. DON’T SMOKE.

The success of removing a tattoo after 10 treatments is reduced by 70% if you smoke! Do your skin and lungs a favor and quit smoking.  

Post-Care Tips

 

5. GET A QUALIFIED LASER TATTOO REMOVAL TECHNICIAN.

Only trust a skilled tattoo removal technician to minimise your risk of injury and maximise your success.

6. TAKE IT EASY THE NEXT DAY.

Stay away from activities that can result in bumping your treatment area, or cause unnecessary friction.

7. ALWAYS PAT WITH A PAPER TOWEL TO DRY – DON’T RUB.

Rubbing can cause side effects. Although rare, if a client has scabs, rubbing can cause them to come off too early, causing your body to form a new scab. This can prolong the healing process.

9. DON’T PICK AT THE SCABS.

This causes scarring.

10. DON’T POP ANY BLISTERS.

Unless they are larger than a dime (17.91mm in diameter), these blisters will go away on their own. For larger blisters, please contact your laser specialist for instructions.

11. KEEP THE TATTOO OUT OF THE SUN.

Keep the tattoo out of the sun, even after many weeks from your last tattoo removal session. The sun causes blistering quickly and increases the time of healing.

12. WHEN IN THE SUN, WEAR SUNSCREEN.

Wear sunscreen that contains zinc or titanium dioxide to block against UVA and UVB rays. Wear sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher.

13. WAIT AT LEAST SIX WEEKS BETWEEN LASER TATTOO REMOVAL SESSIONS.

Your body continues to digest ink after your session concludes. A 6-8 week downtime allows your skin to heal, preventing skin fatigue and maximizing the impact of treatments.

14. QUIT SMOKING!
