Tattoos may be forever—but sometimes your 20s sense of humor doesn’t age quite as well.
That’s what one bride-to-be realized ahead of her 2025 wedding, when she decided it was time to part ways with her “Live Laugh Love” foot tattoo. A video of her laser tattoo removal journey shared on TikTok by @removery quickly went viral—racking up over 2.2 million views and thousands of relatable comments.
“I am HERE for this level of commitment to the cause,” one user wrote.
Removery co-founder Carmen VanderHeiden Brodie, based in Austin, Texas, told Newsweek that weddings are one of the biggest motivators behind clients seeking tattoo removal.
“We see clients who regret tattoos they got, and some of the most common reasons include life changes or personal growth that no longer align with the tattoo,” she said. “It’s when the content of the book doesn’t match the cover anymore.”
Brodie noted that tattoo removal isn’t just for the bride or groom—often, members of the wedding party get treated too, especially if they’re dealing with artwork that no longer fits their style or values.

While regret might be instant, removal isn’t—but it’s well worth the effort.
Laser tattoo removal uses high-intensity pulses of light to break pigment into tiny fragments, which the body then clears over time. Most tattoos require 8–12 sessions depending on size, placement, and color.
And yes—it’s quick. “Most sessions last less than five minutes,” Brodie explained. “The whitening you see is called ‘frosting’—a totally normal response that fades within 10–20 minutes.”
You’re not alone. A recent WebMD stat shows that 25% of people with tattoos regret them—especially ones done in younger years. Whether it’s a trending quote, a mismatched design, or an ex’s name, removal is a clean slate many are embracing—especially before life’s biggest moments.
