Blister Care After Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment

Blistering can be a common and normal response to laser tattoo removal treatment. To ensure optimal healing, it’s important to take proper care of any blisters that form. Follow the steps below to care for your skin and avoid complications.

How to Care for Blisters After Laser Tattoo Removal:

  • If your blister is bothersome, painful, in a high friction area, or at risk of tearing/popping for other reasons; we recommend using a sterile lancet (or needle) to drain the blister.

How To Drain a Blister:

    1. Gently clean the area with non-fragranced soap and water, being careful not to pop the blister.
    2. Using a sterile tool (like a lancet or needle), make one small hole at the base of blister to let the fluid drain. Catch the fluid with a gauze or a paper towel.
    3. Do not pick or remove the skin- this is your body’s natural protection.
    4. Cover the area with a non-stick bandage.
    5. Repeat for any blisters larger than a quarter, using a new sterile tool each time.
    6. Keep the area clean with non-fragranced soap and apply a thin layer of Vaseline.

  • For blisters in high-friction areas (e.g., waistband or bra strap): Wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent accidental popping from rubbing.
