Kevin T. Schomacker is the Vice President of Medical Research at Candela Corporation, leading a global team in developing lasers and other energy-based devices for aesthetic applications. Dr. Schomacker holds a Ph.D. in chemical physics, has conducted extensive research in non-invasive and minimally invasive optical techniques, and brings 20 years of experience developing medical devices to the Removery team. Dr. Schomacker has conducted postdoctoral research at the Wellman Center of Photomedicine, expanding into an associate physicist position, as well as an assistant professor in Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Schomacker serves a pivotal role in investigating laser-tissue interactions, such as tattoo clearance.

Clinical Paper- The first commercial 730 nm picosecond-domain laser is safe and effective for treating multicolor tattoos March 24, 2020 This study examined several males and females who had tattoos removed thanks to treatment from a 730 nm titanium-sapphire laser-pumped laser. A blind assessment showed clearance in varying degrees for six different colors of pigments without scarring or pigmentary alteration.
Surgery Abstract- Over Time Historical Tissue Changes After Non-invasive Treatment With 1210nm Laser May 1, 2013 The objectives of this investigation are to evaluate the histological changes over time of non-invasive treatment with a 1210 nm laser, chosen to target a mid-infrared lipid absorption band.
The truth about available wavelengths for picosecond systems: Are pulses really picoseconds? June 5, 2021 Increased interest in picosecond technology raises the question of how to differentiate between available systems. The ideal system has a range of useful picosecond wavelengths and the ability to consistently generate an ultra-short, high-energy pulse for each of these wavelengths.
